At the University of Miami, we transform lives through education, research, innovation, and service.

Our Mission

The Office of Government and Community Relations serves as the primary liaison in promoting positive relations between the University and government, community organizations, and our neighbors. We assist the University President, administrators, faculty and staff to address concerns, plans for growth, funding and event planning in an efficient manner, when dealing with the different governmental offices, elected officials, community organizations and their staff. By monitoring laws, proposed legislation, and local issues we ensure the concerns and best interest of the University are represented.

Our Team

The Office of Government and Community Relations has been led by Rudy Fernandez, Executive Vice President for External Affairs and Strategic Initiatives and Chief of Staff, since 2007. Meet the rest of our team.
